i heard back from haas (the school of business at berkeley) on wednesday and got accepted! it was such a relief because the admissions rate for berkeley students is around 50% for the undergrad business program and notoriously competitive (you apply as a sophomore and if you get in, the program starts junior year), plus i turned down early acceptance and a scholarship from the uw b-school (university of washington) when i was applying to colleges to pay out-of-state tuition at berkeley so my parents would have been pissed if i didn't get in. and it would've sucked because basically i would have wasted two years taking all the prereqs. so i'm officially a business administration & linguistics double major now, how exciting! it sucks though that visual studies, the department under which photography is offered, is not major-able or minor-able. but yeah life is going well, now i just need to catch up on all work i've put off doing.

transatlanticism
six and a half months have flown by, and i arrived back in seattle from europe today. i had a once in a lifetime experience: erasmus in den haag, spring break in venice, and a summer eurotrip to berlin, prague, vienna, munich, zurich, bern, clermont-ferrand, and paris. i made so many awesome friends and discovered a lot about myself along the way.
i plan on taking it easy the next few weeks in seattle before i go back to berkeley, and hopefully i'll have more time now to go through my endless folders of photos and do some post-processing.
back to reality...?
outlook for the new year
2009 was a personal roller coaster, but i like where it's left me. i'm calmer now and i like to think a little more mature. the upcoming year looks like it'll be an interesting one as well: jan-july i'll be studying abroad in the netherlands then traveling around europe until august. a week or so after i arrive back in seattle, my brother is planning on getting married. at the end of august, i head back to berkeley to start my senior year of college. time sure flies.
wish you all the best in 2010.
